Homeless

I added it up. I have spent 14 nights during July / the first third of August sleeping in a hotel room. I have also stayed at five different houses in that time.

I have driven from Virginia to Utah via NY, OH, IL, MO, IA, NE, and WY. Then, driven to Idaho to house hunt. Then, to Salt Lake City, Utah from which I drove to and from St. George. I spent time in Park City, flew back to Virginia and then drove across the country, again, this time in a big Uhaul truck and arrived in Boise where I unpacked most of my family's belongings into a storage unit and did some more house hunting. And, then, drove back to Utah.

Tomorrow I will drive to the other corner of Utah to spend four days at Lake Powell, then drive back to SLC so I can get my husband (whom I have hardly seen) on a plane to Reno for two weeks of training on being a judge. Four days later, I will fly back to VA to finish packing up our house. Then, return to UT, pick up my kids and drive to Boise where two days later school will start and, if I am lucky, I will only need to live in a hotel and out of a suitcase for another 9 days. That is IF our offer on a house is accepted tomorrow so that we will have a long term place to live and not have to rent while trying to find another house.

The good news is our home sold, six miles before we pulled into Boise last Friday with all our belongings in a truck and no idea how we were going to find a place to live. With the inspection done and the closing in 16 days, I am VERY relieved. Also, we have determined that if the legal field ever loses it's appeal Jeffrey would make a decent truck driver.

The bad news is that we have ruled out a career as a mover for me. Also, we are still uncertain what we are doing in 14 days when we have to have a place to live in Idaho. And, the kids and I are tired of living out of suitcases and being in limbo. Today as we were driving back to my parent's home after a jaunt to the store Elsie Jane said, "No. I no want to go here. I want to go to MY mommy and daddy's house." I could not agree more.

I just hope that we are not homeless for too much longer.

Sounds like things might be calming down for you soon! I hope it does!

How exciting that your house sold! I'm sure the new house will fall right into place. I CANNOT wait to see pics, I'm sure it's beautiful. But I don't envy you the next few weeks, they sound pretty awful. It will all be worth it soon!
