Trained

I have hit a milestone that I think deserves recognition. Perhaps I should throw a party.

Elsie Jane is POTTY TRAINED.

We started about three weeks ago, and it all has been pretty smooth. A few accidents, some crazy moments, a whole lot of M&M's (consumed by both Elsie Jane and the rest of us!) but by this point, I think it is fair to say she is pretty much there.

Sure, she still wears a pull-up to bed at night. But, she is almost always dry for nap time.

Sure, my life for the next few months is going to be governed by the unpredictability of my daughter's bladder and bowels. (Like two weeks ago when we turned the car around at the top of the street to go home for a potty break, making us late to church. Or, our crazy searches for gas stations on our way to Monticello last weekend. Or, all the days when I feel like she is saying, "I go potty" just to see how many times I will drop what I am doing and run to the bathroom with her.) But, she hardly ever makes a mistake if I drop everything and run.

Sure, there are some gross messes that will occur along the way. It is inevitable. But,she is potty trained.

I am all done buying diapers.

Yes, I said all done.

What an amazing and liberating thought! What a new phase of life to move into!

You want to know the craziest part of it all though?

There is a little, tiny part of me that feels just a little, tiny bit sad.

Farewell officially to calling my little girl a "baby." We are done with babies.

Sniff. Sigh.

Okay, I think I may have worked it out of my system.

Now, who wants to celebrate with me?

WHAT??!!!! You are super mom! I am so behind in potty training Connor and Catie. I am dreading the thought of running to the bathroom from the far corner of super target just to have them have an accident right as we get there. My kids are 2 1/2. It is time. I just don't want to do it! You are inspiring me though!
